My latest makeup haul at Ulta: First Impressions

makeup haul

One minute I’m looking to pick up a few items at Ulta and the next minute I’m leaving the store with four times the amount of items. But, I know how these trips to Ulta always turn out…I am a kid in a candy store! I immediately head to the makeup section and just start to browse. I’m captured by all the products and their colors and packaging. I like to browse through all the displays to check out any new (& improved) products and try them too! I just take it all in. I obviously love makeup & I love this girly side of me 🙂

On my list were the Hoola bronzer everyone’s been talking about (and I must try!) and my everyday Stila Liquid Liners in intense black and dark brown – that was it. I was only looking to add one item to my makeup “collection” and replenish another. Of course while I was there (ahem) I picked up the following items…I mean come on, I had to!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection

I’ve been wanting to pick this up for a few months now and I’m glad I did. As soon as I opened the package, I immediately noticed the smell of chocolate…yummy! As I tried not to eat the chocolate bar, I was really impressed with the variety of colors; pinks, browns, neutrals, even some shimmers, and matte colors. I can’t wait to try them all!

NYX Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray

This is my first NYX product purchase. I am not sure why I never purchased a NYX product before but I’ve seen some pretty good reviews on this setting spray so I figured I would try it for myself. Besides, I love a dewy look and will especially love it if it keeps my makeup looking that way for hours.

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel

First and foremost I love Anastasia brow products. I really believe that they carry the best products for brows. I have used several Anastasia products and they’ve never dissapointed. I wanted to try the clear brow gel to tame my brow “fly-aways”. I have pretty thick eyebrows and as my brow hairs start to grown in they can sometimes be difficult to tame. I will see if this brow gel keeps them intact.

BareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer

I currently use a different BareMinerals Eye Primer but saw this one and couldn’t resist getting it. What really made me want to buy this was that it comes in a solid (round) stick that you can twist up and down, so technically you don’t have to use your fingers to apply it over your eyelids. I tried it in the store and instantly felt a cooling sensation on my eyelids. The product packaging says that it contains a mineral blend of aloe and caffeine – to diminish the look of dark circles and imperfections while giving you a well-rested look. I like the consistency of the primer too; I prefer a thicker matte primer which this is.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Precision Longwear Liner

I love liquid liners and I love Tarte products so there was no question I was going to pick this up. I really liked the look of their liner pen, it has a cute gold cap. I also like that it has an easy hold grip which I’ve never seen before in other liquid liner pens.  The tip applicator seems to be of good quality and it’s thin and flexible so will hopefully provide me with a really great looking cat eye.

Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-in Primer

This was on sale for about $5 and the shadow colors are pretty. I was looking for gray shades and these shadows have a built in primer so I am curious to see how long the eyeshadow lasts if I don’t use a primer.

IT Blush Brush #227

IT Angled Liner Brush #122

Eco Tools Bamboo Blush Brush

I wanted to try a few new brushes because I still use my really old MAC ones. This was truly an impulse buy (as if the rest of my purchase wasn’t!)

As you can see, I had a ton of fun at Ulta today! I can’t wait to try out all of these products.

Stay tuned for reviews on some of these soon!

  1. I am the exact same way! I go into Ulta to pick up one item and leave with seven. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Chocolate Bar and Hoola Bronzer – i’ve been eyeing those for a while! xx

    1. Isn’t it crazy, i just love that store. Sephora is another one but Ulta has many other products (for hair, nails, etc) including drug store makeup brands that I could spend hours in there! Glad I’m not the only one 😉 I’m dying to try the Chocolate Bar and Hoola Bronzer and will be doing so today. I’m sure they will live up to the hype…. stay tuned! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I think I picked up some pretty great stuff too. I tried the palette, the setting spray and the bronzer yesterday & am loving everything so far. The chocolate bar has great colors and I loved the brief smell of chocolate when I first opened the palette. Did you smell that too? Those trips to Ulta can be dangerous! I’ll check out your review on your page. Thanks for the follow. Xo
