YSL Pop Water Glossy Stain Review

YSL Pop Water Glossy Stain

I’ve been making lots of lippie purchases lately. Everything from lipsticks to glosses and pencils. I even bought an eos lip balm I’m loving. During last weekend’s shopping trip at Nordstrom, I bought two Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) lip products; one I wrote about in my last post and this baby I’ll be talking about today.

These Pop Water Glossy Stains are the third generation under the YSL’s iconic Glossy Stain franchise. I have to say that I’ve never tried their previous glossy stains however, if these newer ones are any indication of the previous ones, I’ve truly been missing out! I absolutely love lip glosses but many lip glosses feel sticky (and my hair always tends to fly right into my lips!), wear off quickly, and don’t provide any hydration for my lips. Well, this is NOT the case with these Pop Water Glossy Stains. This lip gloss is actually the BEST lip gloss I’ve ever worn and owned! Let me tell you why.

First and foremost, just look at the packaging! What’s not to adore aesthetically about this gorgeous lip gloss?!!

Next, look at that wand applicator! It has an extra flat shape with a slight bend which helps apply the product perfectly onto your lips.

As far as the gloss itself, here’s what it is and what it absolutely does:

What it is:
A long-wear, hydrating, sheer color gloss.

What it does:
Provides long-lasting sheer color and a 10-hour hydration effect. The gloss goes on very “wet” but after you press your lips together a few times, it becomes thicker in consistency and leaves lips feeling super moisturized.

Cost: $36 USD. It’s fairly pricey but in my opinion, well worth it!

It’s important to note that these Pop Water Glossy Stains are not liquid lipsticks with high pigmentation. These are slightly translucent with an extra glossy finish. With that being said, the colors are definitely buildable in intensity.

Below, you can see how sheer this lip gloss truly is. On the left is what it looks like after just one coat and on the right is after a few coats. The more you pack on, the more vibrant & poppy the color looks. I applied just two coatings onto my lips below. It saturated nicely and provided a soft and subtle look which would look perfect with a smokey eye.

The colors you can purchase these in range in reds, corals, pinks, and nudes. There are a total of eight (8) colors available. Of course, I opted for a pink color (Pink Rain #205) because pink is my favorite color. Because I love this so much, I plan to go back and try some of their other shades.

Bottom Line: This is a flawless lip gloss. It’s not shimmery but is so unique and flattering that I am truly head over heels in love with it. The absolute best thing that I love about this product is the long lasting hydrating effect. It really leaves my lips feeling super soft for hours. If you’re looking for a higher pigmented color, you can still apply your favorite lipstick over the gloss to get the perfect color combination.

On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best), I give this product FIVE STARS!!!. I really love this product and would recommend it to anyone.

5 Stars
