MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation Review (Liquid & Stick)

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation

Are you a liquid or stick foundation lover? I have always used liquid foundation but have been curious about the stick foundations that have been coming out lately. Liquid foundation has been around forever – well before powder, cream-to-powder, tinted moisturizers (BB & CC creams), and stick foundations came on the scene. From the easy application to the endless variety of options, there’s no doubt liquid foundations are here to stay. I was lucky enough to receive the Make Up For Ever VoxBox from Influenster which came with the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in liquid and stick form to try. After trying both formulas, one of these foundations is a rock star and the other didn’t quite work as well as I thought it would for me. There are obvious differences in the formula (liquid versus cream) but if you are curious to learn more, keep on reading as I will be reviewing both of these formulas!

Before I begin my review, here’s how the Make Up For Ever VoxBox arrived. Influenster sent me one Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in the shade 127 / Y335 and one Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation in the shade 128 / Y415.

ABOUT MUFE ULTRA HD FOUNDATION

MUFE’s Ultra HD Foundation was specifically designed for the film and TV industry’s high-definition technologies making it appear “invisible” under the 4K lens of a camera and to the naked eye. The formula is designed to feel like a second skin and look natural and flawless.

MUFE ULTRA HD INVISIBLE COVER FOUNDATION (LIQUID) REVIEW

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation

This liquid foundation is super lightweight and you don’t need much product to cover your entire face; just a few drops will do. Too much product will make it look cake-y. The coverage is medium but is build-able. However, it doesn’t do a great job at covering up my skins’ imperfections, blemishes and redness. Since the formula is water based, that may be the reason why. I have dry/combination skin and while the foundation looks okay on my oily areas (with setting powder), it does not look good on my dry areas. With a primer, wear time is only about six hours (it may be less without a primer).

This foundation has an exceptional shade range with 40 shades currently available. The foundation is packaged in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser which is always ideal when working with liquid foundations.

MUFE ULTRA HD INVISIBLE COVER STICK FOUNDATION (CREAM) REVIEW

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Foundation

This cream foundation is hands down better than the liquid version. Wow! I might have found my holy grail foundation. Even with my difficult skin (dry/combination, sensitive, rosacea, eczema) this foundation works like a dream. It’s creamy, with medium coverage that you can build up to full coverage. It never looks cake-y and blends out so well you can hardly tell I have foundation on. My skin looks flawless as it does a great job at covering up my skins’ imperfections and redness. I love that it lasts all day too (with a primer) and works so well with other cream and powder products. I tried applying this with my Beauty Blender but the sponge absorbed too much product and did not blend the foundation well. I prefer using a foundation brush as it blends out better for me using less product.

This foundation is available in 15 shades. It certainly doesn’t come in as many shades as its sister version but the shade 128 / Y415 matches my skin color perfectly. The foundation is packaged in a twist-up tube and glides ever so gently on my face.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT FOUNDATION

With all the options out there, finding the right foundation can be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Knowing your skin color, skin type (normal, oily, dry, combination) and level of desired coverage (light, medium, heavy) can make it much easier for you to find a foundation you’ll love. A general rule when choosing foundation is to first start with your skin type. If you have dry skin, you might want to stay away from matte-finish or powder foundations as they can exacerbate dry areas if the finish is too dry. However, if you have oily skin these types of foundations would probably work best for you. Remember, dry skin needs moisture so liquids and creams work best with dry skin.

Verdict: I absolutely LOVE the MUFE Ultra HD Stick Foundation and prefer it over the liquid version. The build-ability, coverage, and texture are all on point. It feels light on the skin and lasts all day. I really wanted to love the liquid foundation as it has received pretty good reviews and is considered one of the bestselling HD foundations. Unfortunately, the liquid is not ideal for my dry/combination skin.

Disclosure: I received these products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. All opinions expressed are my own and are based on my experience with the products. Thank you Make Up For Ever for the Ultra HD to try! #UltraHDGeneration

Until next time, loves!

    1. There are so many good primers out there but it all depends on what you are looking to accomplish. For example, if you wanted to minimize pores, redness-color correct or if you want an underlying ‘glow’ or a matte finish. They even have primers that help with acne/ blemishes. MUFE’s primers are great and they have a nice variety of options. I also love the Smashbox primers – they also have a bunch of different options. Another 2 faves of mine are from Hourglass which also has SPF in it and Benefit’s POREfessional. I can keep going….:)

    1. Hello Mercy! The stick glides on very smoothly. It never feels cold or uncomfortable going on so no need to warm it up with your hands/fingers or anything like that. Just twist up the tube and glide the cream on your face wherever you desire coverage. Thanks for stopping by! Xx

  1. The completed look looks wonderful and I’m not a great fan of liquid foundation either and I’ve used foundation stick from Clinique before which worked so good on me and now this comes as a quintessential dupe for that

    1. This is the first stick foundation I’ve tried and I’m really preferring it over all of my other liquid foundations at the moment. Maybe my skin is changing! I’ll have to look into the Clinique one! Thanks for stopping by! ❤

  2. I love your blogs because your reviews are right on. You are correct by stating “trying to find a foundation is like trying to find a needle in a haystack” so I appreciate your reviews. I hate wasting money on products and then find out I don’t like them.

I trust your opinion because I know you and we have similar coloring. Since I currently need new foundation, (even though I am a little cheap) I am actually going to spend the money and buy that stick foundation based on your detailed review.

Keep those excellent blogs coming! You’re the best! ❤️

  3. I was fully expecting you to prefer the liquid version over the stick! I’ve been on the hunt for a good stick foundation for ages – I like the idea of them – so portable and you can really sheer it out if you want. I’ll definitely check out the MUFE HD stick foundation!

    1. I was fully expecting to love and prefer the liquid too! The stick totally took me by surprise but I’m so glad I tried it because it really is a great foundation in every way a foundation can be great. If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think about it 🙂 XX
