Today is National Lipstick Day my friends and what better way to kick it off than with the new Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick (that’s a mouthful!).

Before I get into how this lipstick performs, can we just take a minute to obsess over the design? How slick are these lipsticks?!

Unique Design: The lipstick is encapsulated in a gorgeous, elegant gold applicator. The bottom pointy part twists up (and down) to reveal the lipstick. The applicator really provides great control for a precise lipstick application. Bonus: these are refillable!

At first, I thought this lipstick would be pretty large in size. But take a look at how small it actually is when I hold it in my hand. Yes, these babies will fit comfortably in your makeup bag.

Influenster was kind enough to send me this lipstick in the shade I’ll Never Stop. I’ll Never Stop is described as a beige nude. I find it to be more of a warm brown, similar to KVD’s Bow-N-Arrow but the formula is totally different. I love nude shades and this nude is very complimentary to my skin tone.

The lipstick has a slanted tip which provides the best application to my heart shaped lips. I apply the lipstick from my cupid’s bow out towards the corners of my mouth. This gives me fuller looking lips.

Formula: The Hourglass Confession lipsticks are creamy with a satin finish. They’re a light-medium thick formula but are more lightweight than many other creamy lipsticks.

Every layer of lipstick I applied had a nearly opaque pigmentation. These are definitely full coverage! The lipstick is moisturizing and wears well for a few hours. After a while though, my lips start to get a little dry. Not overly dry but just enough to warrant a small re-application or lip balm over my lips. Overall, the lipstick is comfortable wearing and I haven’t experienced any feathering or smudging with this lipstick.

I really love the formula, the shade, and the unique design of these new Hourglass lipsticks. What makes these so special, in my opinion, is the refillable factor. I don’t own any refillable lipsticks and think it’s a really neat idea!

The one criticism I have is with respect to the amount of product you get. Yeah, I get the fact that these are supposed to be ultra slim but you only get 0.03 oz of product. Compare that to your typical MAC lipstick which provides 0.1 oz of product.

As far as price goes, the initial price of the lipstick with applicator is $34 and each refill will cost you $22.

The new Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick comes in a range of 30 shades including a bunch of nude, mauve, pink, berry and red shades.
