A few things I’ve learned about blogging…

Keeping up with a blog can be challenging at times.  Not only do you have to regularly post to your blog to maintain visibility but you also need to come up with interesting and new ideas for topics – topics you’re pretty sure most people will like.  Luckily, there are a million things to write about with makeup. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface.

There seems to be a whole methodology to blogging.  I am no expert in blogging; in fact I’m just a beginner, but I have learned a few things so far which I’d like to share.  First, the title of your blog will be the first thing people will see, so it should be catchy to draw in your audience but it should also be short – let’s get straight to the point, right?  I’ve seen some extremely long titles on some blogs and wondered if the blogger wanted me to spend time reading the title or the actual blog.  Second, ask open-ended questions on your blogs to invite readers to comment on your posts.  Of course, you should comment back for courtesy and also comment on other people’s blogs often, as this can create more followers.  Lastly, support your blog with good SEO (search engine optimization).  This basically means to include explicit, unique title tags and good meta description tags on your blog post so that you can boost your search engine ranking. I recently did this with my last blog and have noticed several viewers found my blog through a search engine search.

I haven’t thought about creating a logo to match this blog but I do have a slogan/tagline: “I’m just a girl who loves makeup” Yup, that’s me!
