Hello Friends! So the Memorial Day weekend is upon us and while it importantly represents our deceased veterans, it also unofficially marks the kickstart to the summer!! And who doesn’t love the summer right? Of all the great things to love about the summer, it’s the time of year when my skin can tend to get more oily. I have combination skin – oily in some areas and normal or dry in others. If you don’t know your skin type, I would say that you should really find that out so that you can match your makeup products with your skin type. Trust me, it really makes a difference. I’ve actually come across a really great article that talks about how to tell if you have combination skin.  Most people’s skin is seasonally or hormonally affected which is why you may find, like me, that your skin can become oiler in the summer and dryer in the winter.

The best makeup for combination skin types like mine are oil-free foundations, moisturizers and primers. One of the great things about primers as I mentioned in my blog post about eyelid primers, is the lasting wear of your makeup. Primers keep your makeup from “caking” or “melting” into creases and they also can fight off oil! I’ve tried several foundation primers and have to say that hands down, the smashbox photo finish foundation primer light is the best!!! I’ve never liked the feel of other primers I’ve tried on my skin. I always felt that they were “too heavy” on my skin and especially in the summer months, who needs that added weight, right?

So why is the smashbox photo finish foundation primer light so great? Let me count the ways…. 🙂

1) it’s oil-free.

2) it’s water-based so it’s ideal for oily, acne-prone, or sensitive skin.

3) it’s light weight, silky consistency feels great on my skin. I apply just a dime sized amount evenly on my face and it feels like I didn’t even put anything on!

4) it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores.

5) did I mention it helps absorb oil from your face?! Ahh, a smooth matte finish all day long!

6) it’s never clogged my pores; no breakouts from use of this primer – ever.

7) it really does extend the wear of my makeup all day long!

8) Allure Magazine’s Best of Beauty Award for Best Primer. Yup!

Verdict: I’m in love with this primer! I have found “the one” in face / foundation primers. It is truly an excellent product and would recommend it to everyone. The smashbox photo finish foundation primer light really helps my skin from shining throughout the day and helps extend the appearance of my makeup.  It’s great for the summer but also all year long if you tend to have oily skin (I use it all year long)! I previously tried their original primer (non-light formula) and while it had some of the same benefits as the light formula, it didn’t feel as light-weight and also didn’t help absorb the oil the way their light formula does.
