If you love MAC makeup like I do, you knew these MAC Giambattista Valli Lipsticks were coming. And, of course, I was prepared for the massive haul that was coming with this release. I stayed up past midnight the night before just to be one of the first to order these online – and I hardly ever stay up that late! I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if they were sold out, I just couldn’t bring myself to that. The MAC Giambattista Valli collection was officially released in stores and online on July 9th but you weren’t able to order them online until some time that morning. I swear their website was on the verge of crashing because it was super slow!! It took me almost 2 hours just to get my order in but by noon, my worries were over. My order was officially placed and I was super excited!!
First, let me say that these are true matte lipsticks. Matte lipsticks are dry and if you have any flakes on your lips, they’ll become more pronounced. I suggest you get rid of any flakes first and maybe even use a primer before applying the lipstick. Also, matte lipsticks settle into your lip lines and can leave a bit of a stain on your lips. More so with the darker shades – but don’t all dark colored lipsticks do that anyway? I honestly don’t mind the staining because I’d rather have a little color on my lips than no color at all. You can easily get rid of the color with makeup remover or just let it wear away on its own.
I’m really glad that MAC chose to release a Crystal Glaze Gloss with this collection. It not only adds a touch of fabulousness by transforming the matte finish to a glossy finish, but it also provides moisture for your lips. It has a unique pearlescent finish and can be worn over the lipsticks or alone.
Now on to the swatches….
First up is my least favorite color in this collection (I like to save the best for last!). MAC Bianca B Lipstick is described as a “pale white pink”. It is truly a very pale pink with a strong white undertone. I don’t think this color would look good on every complexion, including mine. It makes me look washed-out! I really thought this would be my favorite color of the bunch but it turned out to be the opposite. I applied several coats of the lipstick and it managed to settle into every single one of my lip lines. This one really needs a primer or some other base to minimize some of the lip line issues.
Next up is the MAC Margherita Lipstick which is described as a “yellow bright peach”. It is a bright light coral-orange color with warm undertones and a satin finish. This was my second least favorite but I think it would look nicer on someone with a lighter or darker complexion.
Now the MAC Charlotte Lipstick I really like and I don’t tend to like red lipsticks on me. This one is described as a “rich yellow red”. It’s a medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish but definitely had some moisture. It had good color payoff that covered the lips evenly and smoothly.
The MAC Eugenie Lipstick is described as a “dark cherry with blue undertone”. It is a deep, purple wine color with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. Perfect for a vampy look!
And my favorite of the bunch is the MAC Tats Lipstick which is described as a “bright hot pink”. It is a bright medium-dark fuchsia pink with a satin-matte finish. I ❤ ❤ this color!!
All of these lipsticks stay on for hours – wear time is 4+ hours.
Have you purchased any lipsticks from this collection yet? What do you think about these? I’d love to know!
Until next time lovelies!!
