Many of us struggle with achieving the perfect cat eye. We’ve tried to draw that line so perfectly on the side of each eye. On a lucky day, you nail it. But on most other days you’re wiping, reapplying makeup, and then going back in to correct any mistakes. While smudgy-lines is one problem, you also have to make sure both wings are perfectly even.

I have been wearing a cat eye look for years now so I have many years of experience. I can confidently say that my skills are very good. Sometimes it takes me just a bit longer to get it perfect but my cat eye application is pretty solid. Unfortunately, many of my friends still struggle with creating a flawless cat eye. In fact, the number one makeup related question I get asked all the time is how I apply my cat eye and what product I use.

I first noticed Cat Eye 101 by ABLE Cosmetics while scrolling through my Facebook feed. I saw a (sponsored) post about this new foolproof, easy to use jet black liquid liner pen which claims to be smudge-proof and long lasting.

What really caught my attention was this rubber stencil on the cap that’s meant to help you easily glide the liquid liner to achieve the perfect pointy flick.

One of the really great things about this product is that there are only 5 steps to achieving your perfect cat eye. Steps 1, 2, and 5 are no-brainers in my mind so there are really only 2 steps. I’ll walk you through all the steps first and then tell you what I think.

Step 1: With lid on; shake liner well.

Step 2: Remove lid.

Step 3: Draw line across lash line. In the pic below, you’ll see that I have already drawn a line across my lid and I am now positioning the stencil.

Step 4: Place lid in desired position & trace to make a cat eye.

Step 5: Take lid away to reveal cat eye.

And voila! Here is my finished product.

I want to mention that once I removed the lid, it did not look exactly like the image above. I actually went back in a few times to make the line thicker.

Before you start digging into your wallets to purchase this product, you must know that this product is VERY expensive. The pen is $48.00 USD. But if you run out of the product, you don’t need to buy a whole new pen. Instead you buy refills for it. The refill will cost you $30.00 USD. Yikes! It is by far THE most expensive liquid liner I’ve ever seen!

Here are what I consider to be the pros and cons of this product.

Pros:

• Easy, foolproof application. It really doesn’t get any easier to apply and achieve a cat eye
• Smudgeproof
• Intense color
• Long lasting
• Cruelty free, paraben free & gluten free

Cons:

• Very expensive
• Not waterproof
• Because of the pen’s thickness, it can feel awkward to hold
• You won’t get it perfect on your first try

My honest recommendation is that if you are a beginner in the cat eye department and/or truly struggle with creating a cat eye, this product may be right for you. However, if you are like me and are a semi-pro in creating a cat eye, you may want to ditch this option (mostly because of the cost).

What I like most about this product is the intensity of the color. While I truly like this product, my favorite go-to liquid liner is still the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner which I reviewed here.
